Cylinder Head Crack Repairs
A Clark C500 forklift cylinder head came in for a valve job this week. It had some issues. Needed a new seat welded into place. Had sizable crack where someone had tried to drill into it to make repairs. Bad idea if you don’t know what our doing.
We fired up the welder and went to work. A little cylinder head repair goes a long way.
Depending on crack location, quantity of cracks, and depth of the crack, your cylinder head may be repairable.
The only way to know is a close inspection, sometimes heads have hairline cracks, not visible to the naked eye.
A deep cleaning to remove any gunk, then we perform the crack detection. We’ll let you know if we can repair the cracks.
This head was repairable, it was more affordable than buying a new cylinder head.
It had to cure and cool, I didn’t wait around for photos to complete the Valve Job.
After we repaired the seat, we resurfaced the head, installed valve stem seals, new guides, grind the valves, cleaned, painted and assemble it.

My forklift has been having problems with it’s cylinders. It makes sense that I would need a professional to fix this for me! It seems like they have the equipment necessary to get the job done right.
