Toyota Prius 1.8 Hybrid Valve Job

Prius 1.8 Cylinder Head Repairs.
Model: Toyota Prius 1.8 DOHC 16V 2ZR-FXE L4.
Prius Valve Job Includes: Pressure  Test, Magnuflux for cracks, Resurface, Grind Valves, Cut 3-angle valve seats, New exhaust guides, New valve stem seals, Clean, and Assemble.  Any missing, damaged, or broken parts is an extra cost (valves, guides, seats, crack repair, etc).

Lets check out the progress photos.  First step is a hot tank to get off the grime before we inspect the head.

Valve Grinding

Grinding the valve surfaces so they match up with the valve seat.  These valves we in good condition, so we clean them up and grind the surfaces. See the before and after shots.

Resurfacing

After inspection, disassembly, test for cracks, and hot tank cleaning, we can get to the machining.
Time to recondition the cylinder head surface.
Resurfacing restores Flatness and improves the the surface finish.  This allows the head gasket to achieve a proper seal against the engine block preventing the gasket from leaking.  A true and flat finish is always desired.

Cutting Valve Seats

We cut a 3-angle valve seat. Cutting the valve seat increases air flow. Cutting proper angles where the seat and valve face mate produces a gas-tight seal.

Final Assembly

After the machine work, we assemble it back together.
