Toyota 20R 2.2 Remanufactured Engine

Toyota 20R 2.2 Engine Rebuild.

1977 Toyota Pickup 20R 2.2L SOHC 8V 4 cylinder engine came in for a complete long block rebuild.

Engine Rebuild Agenda: Teardown, Inspection, Hot tank and clean.
Machine Services: Bore and Hone engine block, Grind crank and Cam, Valve job on cylinder head.
Engine Rebuild Kit with New pistons, rings, engine bearings, gaskets, oil pump, and timing kit.
Clean, paint, and assemble.

After dismantling it, hot tank to remove grime and grease, and a good scrubbing, it ready for us to get to work.

Engine block on the bore machine to make those cylinders true, round and just the right size. Then it goes to the honing machine for a nice polish so the pistons have the perfect fit.

Meanwhile, we’ve hot tanked and scrubbed the cylinder head readying it for a valve job. Valve Job includes: Resurface, Grind valves, Cut 3-angle valve seats, installed new guides, clean and assemble.  Should mate up to the block nicely.

We’ve decked the block and painted it, ground and polished the crankshaft and installed the bearings. Pin bushings installed in the connecting rods.  They needed a little resizing.  Afterwards, we check the fit by swinging them on our tool to make sure it’s correct.  Once we have a good fit, they are hung on the pistons.

The cylinder head is attached to the short block. Installed oil pan gasket, oil pickup tube and lastly the oil pan.  It’s all coming together.  Starting to look like a complete engine.

Now we’re ready for the flywheel and clutch set with a little prep work.

The flywheel needed to be resurfaced.  We use a diamond wheel for a great finish. We added a recessed lip to the flywheel, the fit on the short block and the clutch will match up nicely.  We cut it to OE specifications.  Flywheels, Grinding, and Clutch sets available, contact us for your parts.

We finish it up with a new water pump and the valve cover to complete the Toyota 20R 2.2 engine rebuild.

    I don’t see what the deal is with the cost thing.

    I need to know how much the complete engine in stock would be and if I can send a core for part of the cost and also I would like a quote on a rebuild of my core and get it back here so I can compare the two choices.

    Not sure if it makes a dofference but this is a Truck engine and it is a 1979.
