2006 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi 5.7 V8 Engine Rebuilding Service.

This Dodge Hemi 5.7 black beauty came to the machine shop for a Remove and complete engine Rebuild.
Model: 06 Dodge 5.7L OHV 16V V8  with MDS, Without VVT.
We started it up to look it over, and listen to how it sounded.

First sign there was a problem was all the smoke.  Second was the dry reservoir.  A BIG no-no.

After we pulled the engine, we found the resulting damage.

Check out these beat up pistons and the battered cylinder head.  Yikes, bad day!

The Engine Rebuild Kit comes with New Pistons and Rings…thank goodness.

Machine Services-Inspect, Clean, Bore and hone the engine block, Valve Job, Grind Crank and Cam.
Engine Rebuild Kit with New Pistons, Rings, Bearings, Gaskets, Freeze plugs, Oil pump and Timing set.
Clean, Paint and Assemble.

You can see from the photos that we also had to install some new seats.
A normal Basic Valve Job includes- Grind valves, Cut valve seats, Resurface, Valve stem seals, Clean, Paint and Assemble.  These heads need more TLC than most.

Bore and hone the cylinders, then another wash, and a coat of paint.
Then it’s ready for some new parts.
